Here we are at the cusp of a new season as summer draws to an end, standing on the bridge between it and what lies ahead with a reflective gaze on what's transpired and a forward focus on what the future holds. On an uncharacteristically cool, comfortable day such as this, it's easy to let one's mind wander down contemplative alleyways seldom explored on days packed with busyness we too often pass off as purpose. So explore we shall, starting with where we've been and ending with where we're heading.

The Winsome Legislative Season That Was (as in, You Win Some, You Lose Some)
The contentious battle for NCGOP State Chair that marked the start of the summer at the state convention drew supporters for both sides. In the end, it was the election for the post itself that for many drew the most heat. Heat that fueled renewed attention on the integrity of our elections as the long session in the Legislature picked up steam with fresh vigor, thanks to the defection of one Tricia Ann Cotham from the Democrat side to Republican, giving us our long-sought supermajority in both houses . With that win came veto overrides of a pro-life bill and others protecting parental rights and fairness in women's sports.
Unfortunately, balancing those wins were the passage of a new "voter ID" law whose gigantic loopholes make it not worth the paper it's printed on, and an election integrity omnibus bill scrubbed clean of most of the critical measures we'd sought, leaving many to question the point of holding a supermajority if its power is not wielded for all important issues. At press time, the integrity of our elections is marginally better than it had been, with last-ditch efforts underway to gain access to cast vote records and post-election audit measures before the session ends. Today.
Regardless of the outcome, there is still much that we can do and many ARE doing to bring whatever improvements can be made to our elections to bear before next Spring's primaries, and many (including me and several others within CAN) still clinging to the hope of switching to paper ballots and a hand-counting system or, barring that, implementation of more stringent machine oversight (a la Mike Lindell's alarm system and other fraud-deterrent) measures before the 2024 Presidential election.
Meanwhile, Back At The Ranch, At Our Mid-Year Kickoff Event...
Since Biblical times, wise men have taken heed of writing on the wall (of the non-graffiti variety.) For us, it hasn't taken much in the way of prophetic interpretive ability to read in ours that things are about to get rather dicey in terms of accessing safe food, water, and air (and enough of it to survive); secure, uncensored communications; reliable energy sources; freedom from medical tyranny; and a viable trade alternative to that about to be enforced by the government in the form of the CBDC (aka, the mark of the beast.)
In response to those threats, a new focus team was created to build connections and establish strategies for addressing them. Originally called the Food Sovereignty and Self-Reliance action hub, it has since been redubbed H.O.O.F.F. (Hands Off Our Food/Freedom). On June 27 a special Mid-Year Kickoff Event was held at the home of yours truly, replete with a buffet of food provided strictly by family-owned, local farms, and speakers to introduce it along with two other new initiatives.
One you're looking at: CAN's very own website, whose official debut occurred shortly thereafter, on August 10. The other, a new free speech platform that will take the place of Facebook, Twitter/X, Zoom, etc., independent of Amazon and Google control, is the brainchild of Jason Jehorek and his team. The aptly-named New American Town Crier is expected to be launched in a matter of weeks. It will be driven by innocuous content to be provided by contributors like you and me, FOR PAY!, about everyday topics of interest ranging from local team sports to recipes, and pet videos to travelogues - in short, anything that is non-controversial and apolitical - to organically build its reach. In that way, once anything bipartisan (say, an announcement of an event focusing on election integrity) does appear on it, it will reach a broader audience beyond the choir we've all been preaching to, without fear of censorship. For more info on how you can "get on the payroll", contact Jason at
Also at the Kickoff Event, guest speaker Jay Diepenbrock provided a brief overview of what's involved with owning and operating a ham radio, putting to rest many common misconceptions in the process about the cost and complexity involved in getting one.
The two subsequent meetings since the Mid-Year Kickoff Event allowed for more indepth exploration of both CAN's new site and of NATC; for new member Eli Humiston to speak about strategies for starting micro-communities in our immediate areas and offer pointers on protecting one's assets; and to announce, as always, the latest of the then-current calls to action, namely to support the override of Cooper's vetoes and to push legislators to vote to include various elements that would improve election integrity in bills under consideration at the Legislature.
Long story short, aside from the usual steady stream of frenetic calls to action as the long session of the Legislature draws to a close, this summer has been a whirlwind of new developments in terms of communications and in CAN's H.O.O.F.F. initiative to educate and enable members and those around us to face a certain future of uncertainty. Another idea that has gained a lot of traction recently has been researched by five key members and found to be a solid strategy for addressing those and other challenges. Read on for how CAN envisions incorporating it into our current plans. Then come to our next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19, to learn more details from Karl or Karen.
What's Up: Exciting Times Ahead For CAN!
We all sense the momentum building in the air around us, as, indeed, it is, towards the 2024 election and prophetically much more on a global scale. With so much insanity out there, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. But there are signs that things are, in fact, looking up. We know this because more and more people are waking up to the truth and are finding their courage to uphold it. The left's lunacy is losing to a tidal wave of truth, with more still to come from Trump's impending trials. And passionate people are riding that wave, as evidenced by a folk song gone viral, a low budget film on a taboo subject's burying the highly-anticipated would-be summer blockbuster with record-breaking sales, and renewed hope in the form of a device for detecting voting machine interference from everybody's favorite pillow salesman-turned-election-integrity-activist.
How we harness and channel that wave to produce the most positive change has been the subject of much discussion over these past summer months, with one vehicle in particular that has been gaining traction among the grassroots being intently researched by CAN's current and former leadership. The resulting plan that is emerging is a hybrid between this new movement and Terry's logistical approach to community outreach, plus an immediate call for content for Jason's NATC, which can then be used to further all of CAN's and other grassroots affiliates' initiatives, current and future.
NATC's call for posts, blogs, and digital traffic of an everyday, apolitical, nature provides not only a simple outlet for involvement that can be pursued by anyone, anywhere, on their own time (and for pay!), but also an innocuous bridge between us and those who are not yet awake, to get them onto a platform that is not adversarial but will lead organically to exposure to the truth.
The idea is for that to occur sooner rather than later. Which coincides with God's preference, too. And as we all know, God WILL ultimately win. So, what better way to support the winning team than to help lay the groundwork for enlightenment by guiding traffic to it? Stay tuned by checking in here for NATC's official launch date. And start thinking until then of what content you can contribute: a favorite pet video? Family recipe? Summer vacation memories? The world is your oyster! Enjoy the chance to do something productive that's actually fun, that in its non-partisan, non-political nature will be forming necessary bonds that will help further our efforts in the long run. There is always something important that can be done, as well, that calls for serious attention and dedicated effort. But for those who don't know where to start, or who just need a temporary break, this could be just the ticket. Take advantage of it. And savor the satisfaction of knowing that you're actually helping in the process, while you do.
It's an exciting new season for CAN, as we live into our motto to 'Wake to the Light' as never before. We look forward to experiencing it together with you, and to exploring all of the new avenues for fulfillment it offers. We appreciate your sharing in the journey with us, and to seeing all of you hopefully soon!
